Ballet Classes
 
 
 
 
Pre-Primary
Ages 4-7*. Age appropriate instruction that includes lots of fun!   Students will use natural movement that is both physiologically and mentally appropriate for this age group. Fundamental movements will be trained to lay the foundation for future study of classical ballet. The student will be exposed to a wide variety of music to further his or her artistic development. Class meets one time per week.
 
Primary
Ages 6-8. Beautiful and handsome dancers start here!  Class is appropriate for young beginners or students that have taken the Pre-Primary class. Class incorporates an expanded study of fundamental skills developed in the Pre-Primary class. Class meets one time per week.
 
Beginning I
Ages 8-12. A formal introduction to classical ballet emphasizing body alignment, basic positions and basic steps. Includes Character Dancing and Free Movement. Class meets one time per week. For more information about character dancing and free movement, please visit our FAQ.
 
Beginning II
A further development of the skills learned in Beginning I. Includes Character Dancing and Free Movement. Class meets one time per week.  
 
Beginning III
Introduces the student to more advanced combinations of steps, body directions and movement, along with use of epaulment. Includes exercises to prepare the student for pointe, Character Dancing and Free Movement. Class meets twice per week.
 
Intermediate
Placement in this class by instructor approval. A continued study of ballet with emphasis on technical development, musicality and artistic expression. Includes pointe. For the younger student, preparation for pointe will be accomplished with a concentrated study of demi-pointe. Includes Character Dancing and Free Movement. Class meets three times per week.  (Three classes per week are required for pointe).
 
Advanced
Placement in this class by instructor approval. An advanced class with emphasis on refinement of technique, articulation and artistry. Instruction includes pointe. This class is geared toward the vocational RAD exams. The technical demands of this class require the student to be studying a minimum of three times per week, although four classes per week are recommended. Class meets four times per week.
 
Repertoire
A class devoted to classical variations and RAD syllabus dances. Students must be at the Intermediate level or higher. This class is required for performance participation for Intermediate and Advanced students.
 
Teen/Adult Ballet (Beginning II and higher)
Learn the art of classical ballet.  Gain Strength, coordination, flexibility, increased fitness and musicality.  A must for all musical theater auditions and an important base for all forms of dance. Please contact instructor for placement.
 
Private and Semi-Private Lessons
Individualized instruction focusing on the specific goals of the student.
A semi-private lesson contains two students.
 
* Age acceptability for class may, in some cases, be determined by the instructor to be younger than noted.
 
* All 4-year olds admitted to class must be able to work in a group setting, pay attention to the instructor and not be disruptive. Assessment will be made in the first two lessons.
